Today. we started the drive via East Fjords to Hofn. It's a beautiful drive and is along the east coast.
Icelandic horses are beautiful! They have long manes of hair. Though it may be tempting to go pet them, it is better not to.
The views were stunning and we continuously kept pulling over to admire and absorb the views!
We did a star jump again, at one of the stops along the way!
Going through one of the many small towns along the East Fjords.
A spectacular sequential waterfall !
We stopped at this beautiful town for a quick lunch.
As we continued the drive, we stopped at a waterfall along the way. We scrambled over some rocks and boulders to get as close to the waterfall as possible!
We stopped to see the Stone Eggs of Merry Bay, Djupivogur. There are 34 enormous granite eggs on a curved bay - these represent the eggs of the different bird species found in the area, many of them migratory.
We continued our drive, just enjoying the gorgeous scenery!
As we drove, we came upon this really cool cloud that was literally wrapping and falling over a mountain top! This was totally amazing and we pulled the car over to watch !
This was one of the coolest things we saw. Iceland is full of such unexpected surprises!
We saw this unique looking mountain, as we drove onto Hofn. We could also see some glaciers in the distance. We checked into Lambhus Cottages - these cottages were tiny but very efficiently built and had a great view of the glacier in the background.
After settling in, we headed out to Jon Riki's for an early dinner.
Alex had a beer with a cool tongue-twister name! A bottle of it costs about 15 dollars.
The food was expensive but very fresh and tasty!
After dinner, we headed out to see a glacier up close. We drove on some very bumpy road to get near this glacier.
The patterns in the glacier is so pretty. There was a glacial melt river flowing near it.
We did not attempt to get any closer to the glacier, though we could have had we tried. There was no one else around and that made me bit nervous ! The time was around 9 pm by now and we decided to call it a day !
