Day 5 - Godafoss and Myvatn Nature Bath

We cooked our breakfast in the guesthouse

Neel is cleaning up after breakfast ! Then we headed out to Akureyri. Its a really nice town with a nice church and some nice streets to walk around.

The streetlights are heart shaped

We visited the northern most botanical gardens.

It had the most amazing collection of flowers, many of them we had never seen before.

We had pizza for lunch and then headed out to Godafoss- Waterfall of the Gods.

Since it was a cloudy day, the waterfall did not look that impressive as I had imagined.

After Godafoss, we checked into our hotel and then headed out to hike the Skutustadir psuedocraters. These were formed more than 2300 years ago with an eruption.

We walked around the psuedocraters - it was a nice one hour hike

We had to walk on the main road to get back to our hotel.

We picked up our swimwear and headed out to MyVatn Nature Baths. On the way, we staopped at Hofdi -its a little peninsula with a mini-forest. We saw trees for the first time in Iceland !

The myvatn area is known for midges and there were a lot of them ! They seem to be attracted to Satto ! And he is not a happy camper when it comes to bugs !

Satto wanted to get out of there because of all the bugs. W

e headed to the Nature Bath. We had booked tickets online ahead of time.

Alex was able to get a beer while in the bath and that made his day !!

The water was scalding hot in some areas of the Bath. We could stay there for a few seconds before floating away to cooler parts.

We had a wonderful time at the Nature Bath and would highly recommend a stop there! It was apparently a lot less crowded than the Blue Lagoon and less expensive as well.
